Calves find their way behind the curtain...

8x10 inches, oil on canvas, stretched and ready to frame.
Sold.

Calves are usually painted too cute, I decided to take on the job of creating a more mad cow
look. I think they are probably still cute, but at least there is a little mystery! Photo coming soon,
uploading of photos is not working!

A new abstract horse painting emerges...

Abstract Horse #2
11x14 oil on linen
This painting is sold.

Been busy with my real world art career, but was moved to do this richly colored abstract horse painting.

I really like painting on linen, it gives the piece a rich look that can't be had with regular canvas, and the paint glides on like a dream!

One of the paintings in my home that most everyone comments about happens to be one of my very first works, andit's of a dark horse silhouette on a background of graduated color from cool to warm.

I've since moved on to much more realistic paintings, but I thought it would be fun to recreate this look. Back then I had used a reference photo from a calendar, this one uses one of my own reference photos, and this time it's a paint horse, (and a much better painting than that early work, if I do say so myself!)

Abstract Horse painting, a little larger than usual...

Giving the landscapes a break this time, but they will be back and I'll take up where I left off number wise.
This is an abstract horse. I really liked the drama here, and although it's not so abstract you can't tell it's a horse, I liked it cropped like this, just enough information, but still mysterious and moody.

Its all about expressive brushwork here.

Two more landscapes emerge

The poppy landscape (5"x7",oil on canvas mounted to board) is from my head, (can you tell?).

The gentle California hills landscape, (5"x7", oil on canvas) which also could be sage brush in the desert to me, came from reference material I took.

Both are sold.
